When a pause becomes a culture of space, relaxation turns into a design gesture integrated into spaces of knowledge.

The Library Tréfilerie of Jean Monnet University, located in the urban heart of Saint-Étienne, is much more than a university library. It is an open, contemporary space designed to welcome students, researchers and visitors in a bright, fluid and inclusive environment. The architecture encourages concentration while also leaving space for pause, personal time and mental regeneration.
Within this context, interior design plays a central role: every element contributes to creating a balanced experience where study and wellbeing coexist without overlapping. The library thus becomes a place to inhabit, not simply to pass through, where the quality of space positively influences the way time is experienced.
It is within this evolved vision of public space that C.O.D.E. finds its place, bringing its approach to wellbeing beyond the traditional boundaries of spa and hospitality environments. For C.O.D.E., relaxation is not an exception but a design component — a value that emerges from listening, design culture and careful control of every detail. The choice to integrate furnishings dedicated to comfort reflects a shared set of values: attention to people, quality of experience and respect for the identity of the place.

For the Library Tréfilerie, Dune was selected — the design chaise longue by C.O.D.E., inspired by the sinuous forms of the Dune du Pilat. Dune translates a natural landscape into a continuous geometry capable of supporting the body naturally. Its fluid silhouette envelops without constraining, offering deep and discreet comfort, ideal for moments of reading, pause and mental decompression.
Designed also for high-traffic environments, Dune combines ergonomics, material quality and refined craftsmanship while maintaining a measured and contemporary aesthetic. Placed within a space dedicated to knowledge, the chaise longue becomes a coherent extension of the architecture — an element that does not interrupt the language of the place but completes it, interpreting a new idea of everyday wellbeing.
